The Best Location for a Trade Show Booth
Choosing the Best Trade Show Booth Location
Where you place your trade show display is just as important as what you’re displaying. There’s a lot going on at a given event, and the ideal booth location will give you a leg up. But what types of locations should you be looking for? Our experts have four tips for how to choose a trade show booth location that will magnify its impact.
1. Be Close to the Entrance
The easiest way to grab someone’s attention is to be one of the first organizations vying for it. When people are just arriving at a trade show, they’re likely feeling the most engaged and involved they’ll feel all day. Remember, though, that you want to be near the entrance, not right next to the entrance. Although the entrance has a lot of traffic flow, it’s a chaotic and uncomfortable space. Give enough space for people to get through the entrance, catch their breath and be in the right mindset to explore.
2. Be Where the Perks Are
Trade shows have thousands of attendees, and at any given time, plenty of them will need to use the restrooms, get something to eat or just take a break. Having a booth near bathrooms, cafeterias and lounge areas is a great opportunity. If someone has just eaten and freshened up, they’ll be a lot more engaged in the next presentation they see. You want to catch them before someone else does or before that refreshed feeling wears off.
3. Be Near Brand Names and Event Sponsors
There will be plenty of major names at each trade show — and you should take advantage of their presence. Big brands and sponsors are almost certainly going to attract a lot of visitors. Having a booth near them will get the same people’s eyes on your booth. Think of it as leveraging their brand for your benefit. You might not want to be right next to the major brand’s booth, though, as you could potentially get lost in the shuffle. Aim for being 2-4 booths down.
4. Be Near Intersections
A not-so-hidden way to get more people to stop at your trade show booth is to get more people walking along its path. Try to get a booth location at a location where there is foot traffic flowing in multiple directions. Intersections such as cross-junctions and corners are a great place to put an exhibit for the most exposure. If you do get one of these spots, we recommend an open booth design. This allows visitors to enter the booth and engage from various angles rather than clogging up a single entrance.
